Family law decisions are absolutely central to our lives. Do you believe the Judge made an error in your case? Do you wonder how the outcome of your case was so different than your attorney anticipated? Do you have a feeling something went wrong and want to know if there is something you can do about it? If you think you may want to appeal a family court order, you need to contact a lawyer immediately. You have only 30 days after the final order to file an appeal. If you do not meet this deadline, you will lose your chance to appeal altogether.
Appeals are different. Pursuing a family law appeal is uncharted territory for most individuals and many attorneys. If you believe that you received an unfair trial, if an error was made, or if you believe you have another reason to consider an appeal of a family law decision, talk to an experienced Las Vegas, Nevada, family law appeals lawyer.
Grounds for an Appeal
Disliking the outcome of a case is not a sufficient basis for an appeal. Quite often, however, there are legitimate reasons to feel that something went wrong with your case. To determine if your case might be one worthy of an appeal ask yourself:
- Was an asset wrongly decided to be community property or separate property?
- Was an argument made by your attorney ignored by the Court?
- Did the Court make a math error in the division of community property?
- Did the Court fail to give proper consideration to the financial position of each party when awarding alimony?
When you come to us to discuss a family law appeal, we will review your case and give you honest advice about the likelihood of a successful appeal.
