Are domestic partnerships only for same-sex couples?
A domestic partnership is a civil contract that couples of any sexual orientation — gay, lesbian, straight, transgender — can enter into. When a heterosexual or homosexual couple register as domestic partners, they are recognized as a unit and are extended certain similar rights to those held by married couples. Our attorneys help domestic partners with issues that include the following:
- Cohabitation agreements: These agreements are similar in many ways to prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. A cohabitation agreement can address many financial considerations and provide direction for property division should the relationship end.
- Dissolution of a domestic partnership: With more than 40 years of collective legal experience, The Dickerson Law Group has the knowledge to help domestic partners and unmarried couples who are ending their relationships. Often, these dissolutions can involve issues of child custody and visitation.
The Dickerson Law Group looks forward to assisting with your legal needs. Contact our firm to schedule your consultation.
